Maintaining your aerial rig

Can I leave my aerial rig outdoors?

With a durable, powder coated weather resistant finish, many of our clients have left their aerial rig outdoors for extended periods of time. It is important to follow the guidelines in our Setup and Safety Manual found here.

Our aerial rigs are designed as portable aerial rigs, intended to be easily taken up and down in a matter of minutes. Our rigs are great for performers with gigs, fitting in most vehicles and able to be easily transported, set up and broken down all in the same day.

For best results and to extend the lifetime of the rig, we recommend to regularly take down your aerial rig for inspection. When not in use, it is best to store in a cool, dry and covered area.

Who should I contact if I have any questions?

We strive to keep our clients satisfied and always try to work out a suitable solution when necessary. If you do have any concerns or general questions, you can email us at: [email protected]

General

What is the footprint of the Rig?

Basically, the distance from foot to foot is about the same as the rig height. For example, a quad rig set up to 21 ft high has a footprint close to 19′ x 21′

For our Tripod rigs, at a full 20′ height, the perimeter of the footprint creates an approximate 23′ equilater triangle.

How well do Rigs hold up outdoors?

The rigs hold up very well and are extremely durable. They will last years, even sitting out in harsh conditions. If you plan to leave your aerial rig outdoors, make sure to keep an eye on the rig and routinely drain any standing water inside the tubing of the feet of the rig. Each foot baseplate of our rigs have a hole drilled in the bottom, for easy draining.

Think of the weather resistant coating of your rig as similar to the paint on a car. You can leave a car uncovered in the driveway for 10 years, however the paint’s finish will last longer if the car is stored in a covered, dry area when not in use. We recommend to regularly take down your aerial rig for inspection.

Can children use this equipment?

Aerial arts is enjoyable for all ages, but it does come with some risks. Our products were created with adults in mind and was not designed for children. If you have children, you should be aware that even having aerial equipment in the house might represent risk. We do not advise that children under the age of 12 use the equipment, and any child older than 12 should be properly supervised.

How do I find someone to rig my apparatus?

We always recommend hiring a professional rigger or structural engineer to assist with the installation. Local aerial studios/circus/theater groups are usually well-informed about the best riggers in the region.
